North of Punta Canas, 70 km deep extends the Samana peninsula, in almost untouched currents, between December and March of each year dozens of long-haired whales gather here for a wedding. The crystal-clear, turquoise waters of the sea are silent giants seeking thousands of tourists.
In addition to the marvelous shores lined with palm trees, the green forests of the Sierra de Semana mountain range in the middle of the peninsula provide the backdrop. The Haitian National Park (Parque Nacional Los Haïtises), lying on a lush peninsula, is an ecological wonderland, the park has hundreds of plant species – four of which are rich in forest and rich birdlife – one of the most varied habitats of the Caribbean.
